Anika Singh is a high school student at the American School of Bombay. Her academic interests are mainly in psychology, specifically social and behavioural psychology. She possesses a long-standing commitment to advancing gender equity through education.Â
Academically, she has consistently worked towards understanding how social systems shape educational and occupational opportunities for individuals. Anika has studied several subjects in sociology and psychology through university-level programs, writing papers on topics such as school bonding, inequalities in education, the hidden curriculum, and spatial behaviours. Her passion for fairness within assessment led her to conduct literature reviews on the problem of gender bias in psychometric tests during her internship at Energia SOI, while analysing assessment data to identify how evaluation systems could better cater to female students.
Besides academics, Anika has been a leader of various organisations within journalism, student publications, sports, and community service within ASB. She was Head of the ASB MUN Press Corps, Media Co-Head of Athletics, Co-Leader of Empowerment CSR, part of the Wellbeing Taskforce, and volunteered extensively at Angel Xpress. Using The Rung Project, she merged her interests in psychology, education, and gender to create interventions that empower girls to better understand themselves and make informed career choices to succeed in their future academic and professional lives.
